Thespeed limit on horses is ridiculous. Yes, I'm aware it's been in every AC game, but this is the first time it's been this bad. I can't even remember how many times I've been riding across a field in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere and Phobos won't go beyond a light trot. It's infuriating and it's made even worse when I'm trying to flee a

Bestthing for horseback combat in AC Origins is using ranged attacks. So shooting arrows while keeping the enemies a fair distance away from you or throwing sleep darts to knock them off their horse are both good ways of incapacitating enemies. If all else fails and you have zero ranged weapons available, using a heavy weapon can get the job done.
Feeda predator with a corpse. Crocs, Hyenas, Lions, or Leopards will do. Find a den for any of those animals, find a nearby camp or guard on the road. Kill a guard and put him on your horse. Bring the guard to somewhere overlooking the den and drop the dead body down onto the animals.
Horsescan sprint for a faster top speed (however they will tire over time and go slower for a bit while they catch there breath) Camels always run at there top speed. Horses = quick get aways, and interceptions aka great for short and medium distances and for running away. Camels = Steady and Long, aka great for long distances.

Thevery problem in front of the PC. You don't even understand the issue, but you consider yerself to have solutions. You don't. A horse and a rider on a horse are two different entities to be controlled. In normal games. Not in this one. Here the horse follows the player's character's camera, which is downright bollocks!
StraightLine Sprinting. Sprinting your horse in a straight line builds strength, speed and acceleration. This exercise will prepare your horse for the sprint for
Theres no sprint, if you just move foward for a second or two you speed up. Certain areas it unfortunately doesn't work like riding your horse through town.
Thegame automatically dictates how fast you can go on the horse. If you are out in the country away from civilization he will run as fast as he can. If you are in or near a city he will slow down to a trot.
